A personal project of mine to study Houdini and particle simulation. I started off following a tutorial in Russian until I was able to achieve the desired effect I was after, then sculpted the Chanel perfume bottle in Cinema 4D and brought it into Houdini as my collider.
Then I had to re-learn Octane, this time in Houdini, because Cinema 4D was not able to handle the millions of particles as an alembic file. This was my first ever time rendering straight out of Houdini!
Many many hours of tests, caching and finally rendering, this animation is what I have to show for my hard work!
