Sphynx Cat
I’ve been fascinated with Sphinx cats for a long time and thought that it would be a challenging Zbrush project to do from scratch.
To create the cat, I began the sculpt in Zbrush by making ZSpheres for the body, continued sculpting the folds and details from there, UV mapped it using Rizom UV, took it into Mari to add an extra bit of skin details with the Displacement Map using XYZ textures, imported everything into Substance Painter to color the diffuse pass and roughness pass, created the cat eye from scratch in Zbrush and Substance Painter, used XGen in Maya to grow all of the peach fuzz on the cat (hairless cats actually aren’t all hairless), and brought everything together in Cinema 4D to render in Octane. I also created the shag pillow and fur throw in XGen as well. The couch was the only additional online asset.
The goal was to make a realistic looking render showing the irony of a hairless cat resting in luxury on top of a long haired blanket. All in all this was a fun character creation learning process and I am excited to do more.
